André Schaffrin

André Schaffrin is a PhD candidate at the Research Training Group SOCLIFE in Cologne (Germany) and is currently project coordinator for "Land Use and Energy Supply at the Municipal Level" (EnAHRgie) at the Europäische Akademie Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. During the last year, he was a visiting research fellow at the Harvard Department of Sociology. He studied social sciences at the University of Mannheim (Germany) and at Flinders University in Adelaide (Australia). He is associated with the Centre of Comparative Politics and is supervised by Prof Kaiser. His co-supervisor is Prof Andreß from the University of Cologne.
His research interests include social and environmental justice in the housing sector, policy change and innovation in climate mitigation, and environmental concern. He has a recent publication on energy poverty and climate policy in the international Journal Energy and Buildings and a chapter forthcoming in the International Handbook on Social Policy & the Environment.
